Tell us about yourself and your studies

My name is Manjil Basnet. I recently began my second year of a master's program in Information Technology (Embedded Systems). In addition to my education, I enjoy playing and watching football, pool, traveling, and nature.

Why did you choose your current programme?

Since I studied electronics in college and have found information technology to be highly motivating, I wish to advance my studies in information technology, particularly in embedded systems, which combine hardware and software.

Can you share with us your experiences in Finland and Tampere?

Finland is known for having stunning weather, but it also has a highly sociable and open culture. Some of the things you might hear from other people are Santa Claus, polar bears, saunas, the northern lights, and ice hockey. When it comes to welcoming foreign students and residents, Tampere is superior.

What kind of student activities have you participated in?

There are many events happenings all year long, and I get the chance to take part in a number of them including sauna parties, sports tournaments like kykka and football, and cruise parties. In addition, I took part in various activities like mushroom picking and sit-sits.

What would you say to someone planning to study and live in Tampere?

It's a friendly city for new students, and the university in Tampere is superior for academics. Tampere is better for persons who want to maintain a healthy work(study)- life balance.

What is your favourite place in the city to go for fun with friends?

Being a fan of the outdoors, I enjoy visiting the nearby Suolijärvi and Ahvenusjärvi lakes as well as Särkänniemi occasionally.
