TAMK student ambassadors
Originally from Vietnam, Ngoc Hong Be decided to become a student ambassador during the second year of TAMK studies in International Business.

How long have you been in Tampere and what brought you here originally?

I moved to Tampere in December 2020 for my studies in TAMK.

What TAMK degree do you study and why did you choose it?

When I was a child, I dreamt of becoming a businesswoman. I believe there are a lot of chances to travel and discover the world through business trips. Besides, English used to be scary, and pursuing an English degree has become a fun challenge.

However, to pursue this degree, I had to negotiate with my father many times since he wanted me to be a soldier like him.

In your opinion, what makes TAMK special?

TAMK is one of the great Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland. Besides, TAMK there is Tampere University where we can select courses to follow and compliment our studies.

How would you describe Tampere as a student city?

We usually hear that if five people walk in the road, one of them is a student. There are two universities in Tampere, thus a big student community has been established.

Have you had memorable successes / epic failures in settling in Tampere? How did you overcome difficulties?

I'm an enjoyable and optimistic girl. Thus, I can make friends anywhere, and I know how to make myself happy.

I think my memorable success is that I am co-founder of Hervanta Badminton Club, held by Learning Lab. Now the club has reached 50 members and is  active every week. This club brought happiness and health for a lot of students who are under stress due to studies.

Perhaps, the failure was I couldn't find a part-time job for 6 months. However, I did find a job in Turku.

To whom would you recommend Tampere as a place to study and why?

I always recommend TAMK to my friends and acquaintances in Vietnam. Since I have studied at TAMK, I received many questions from young people in Vietnam who are interested in studying abroad. Besides, I'm a speaker of Study abroad with Trawise, which partner agency of TAMK in Vietnam.

I usually recommend Tampere to live because this is a big city, with heated and friendly people. Besides, you can find a job more straightforward than in smaller and quieter towns.
