After completing the course students understand and are more able to analyze the basic problems of ontology, which have been introduced in the basic course. They have become familiar with the whole field of metaphysics, both to its traditional questions and to contemporary discussion. They are capable of critically evaluate various metaphysical views, connect them with the questions of other fields of philosophy and the special sciences and both recognize and describe their specifically philosophical nature.
Contents
The study module deals with various problems of general metaphysics (or ontology) and of special metaphysics, such as the problem of universals, the mind-body problem, the problem of personal identity, social ontology, time, change, causality, determinism, the problem of free will, and the possibility of a being that transcends the human being.
