Learning Outcomes

- Having completed the Master's degree in architecture, the student is able to:
-Develop their self and take responsibility for their own professional skills
-Active use of interaction, language and networking skills in multidisciplinary and multicultural communities
-To justify the solutions chosen and to present and assure them clearly, in writing, verbally and visually, using various techniques
-Critically and systematically apply the professional knowledge and knowledge from different disciplines
-Apply theories and methods of architecture and use the scientific methods of work
-Develop and apply a variety of responsible solutions independently and creatively, regardless of scale, taking into account the relationship between human being and the environment
-Design and combine different things into a broad and goal-oriented architectural entity and understand the significance of different factors in the whole
-Interpret the needs of customers, users and society and design solutions in the context of the economy, regulations, timetables, climate, professional ethics, sustainable construction, aesthetics and technology
-Innovative design of safe, responsible and accessible constructed environments that meet aesthetic, technical, spatial and functional requirements
-Assess the development of the architecture industry and justify their opinions in the international and societal debate in architecture
-Work independently and responsibly in the profession of architect, and evaluate the quality of their work
After completing the degree, the student has the skills for the architect's profession, lifelong learning and the conditions for scientific or artistic postgraduate studies. The Architect's Degree meets the requirements of EU Directive 2005/36 / EC.

- Opintokokonaisuuden suoritettuaan opiskelija osaa:
-perustella valitsemansa ratkaisut ja esittää ja vakuuttaa ne kirjallisesti, suullisesti ja visuaalisesti selkeästi eri tekniikoita hyödyntäen
-kehittää itseään ja ottaa vastuun omasta ammattitaidosta
-käyttää aktiivisesti vuorovaikutus-, kieli- ja verkostoitumistaitoja monialaisissa ja monikulttuurisissa yhteisöissä
-suunnitella innovatiivisesti esteettiset, tekniset, tilalliset ja toiminnalliset vaatimukset täyttäviä turvallisia, vastuullisia ja esteettömiä rakennettuja ympäristöjä
-tulkita asiakkaiden, käyttäjien ja yhteiskunnan tarpeita ja suunnitella ratkaisuja talouden, määräysten, aikataulujen, ilmaston, ammattietiikan, kestävän rakentamisen, estetiikan ja tekniikan asettamissa puitteissa
-kehittää ja soveltaa erilaisia vastuullisia ratkaisumalleja itsenäisesti ja luovasti mittakaavasta riippumatta ottaen huomioon ihmisen ja ympäristön välisen suhteen

Major Studies 45 cr

Learning Outcomes

- After completing the Advanced Studies in Architectural Design, student is able to:
-create and develop architectural designs that satisfy both aesthetic and technical requirements
-describe, critically experiment and apply the principles and theories of architecture and the related fields such as history, art and design
-interpret and develop the central architectonic, spatial, structural, functional and form-generating premises and thinking of the design of buildings and their impact on human needs
-evaluate and design the immediate environment of buildings, context and their relation to the cityscape
-analyze and implement the principles of sustainable development and to distinguish and to integrate the structural and technical building systems
-evaluate and develop the functional, technical and artistic entities and to critically identify and respond to the social, cultural, environmental and economic implications of architectural design
-develop and implement critical, abstract and conceptual thinking, taking responsibility for own learning and time management
-develop independent and collaborative process thinking and the prerequisites for interdisciplinary collaboration
-manage a demanding project and to develop presentation techniques and communication skills

Students with general studies (45 cr) choose courses worth of 15 cr and students with general studies (40cr) choose courses worth of 20 cr.

Opintokokonaisuus ei ole pakollinen arkkitehdin tutkinnon rakenteessa (tutkintorakenne 2019-20 lähtien). Kokonaisuuteen voi sisällyttää tutkinnon vähimmäisvaatimuksia ylittäviä opintoja, jotka eivät sovellu syventäviksi opinnoiksi, kuten kieli- ja viestintäopintoja, ammattiharjoittelua tai vaihdossa suoritettuja ei-syventäviä opintoja.

This study module is not mandatory in the MSc(Arch) -degree structure (degree structure valid from 2019-20). You may include studies, that exceed the degre requirements (e.g. additional language courses).
