Power Electronics and Electromechanics, At least 30 cr

Description
Power Electronics minor gives basic knowledge on electric machines, magnetic circuits, power electronic devices and their applications.


Succesfull power electronic design requires also knowledge on power systems, electronics and/or control theory.


It is also possible to take the module as a minor with 20 credits worth of course by taking all the compulsory courses and one of the complementary courses.

Objectives
  • Power Electronics minor gives basic knowledge on the use of power electronics in different applications. The student will understand the benefits but also the limitations of power electronic devices.

  • The student know terminology related to power electronics, the operating principle of switchigng components and the operating principle of power electronic devices.
  • Student knows the operating principle of mainly used electric machine types and magnetic circuits.
