14.1. (Thu) Workshop. STI and Sustainable Development Goals (2 h)

• Presenting the groupwork outcomes on STI and SDGs

• Challenges to deploy solutions provided by science and technology

• Need for sociotechnical transitions


19.1. (Tue) Lecture. Mainstream vs. Transformative perspective on innovation (2 h)

• Introduction to innovation studies

• Key findings

• Three generations of innovation policy

• Transformative innovation policy

• Setting a groupwork task


21.1. (Thu) Workshop. New horizons of innovation (2 h)

• Presenting the groupwork outcomes: new forms of innovation and sustainability

• Concepts such as open, frugal, inclusive and social innovation

• Experimental and co-creation approaches

• Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles.


26.1. (Tue) Workshop. Innovation environments (2 h)

• Innovation do not take place in a vacuum

• Orientation to the Matsafeni case study.

2.2. (Tue) Tutorial. Preparing for a case study of Matsafeni, South Africa (2 h), together with Catherine Churchill, Pathways Consulting

4.2. (Thu) Workshop I. Working with a team in Matsafeni (2 h)

• Introducing Matsafeni and Tampere Teams

• Presenting the challenges by the Matsafeni team
