Finland has strong technical expertise in timber construction, but many promising solutions remain isolated inventions, pilots or company-specific development ideas. PUUINNO investigates how the potential of wood can be realised in the real estate and construction sector so that technical solutions develop into repeatable, standardised and internationally scalable innovations.
The project seeks answers to the following questions:
- In which business segments of the real estate and construction sector does the use of wood have the greatest potential for adoption and scaling?
- How do inventions, research results and pilots become solutions that the market adopts?
- Which operating models, standardisation processes and digital tools support adoption?
- Under what conditions can Finnish solutions scale to Northern and Central European markets?
Open outputs: the project produces openly available knowledge and practical tools. These include a segment-specific potential map, a framework for assessing standardisation readiness and a roadmap for internationalisation. The project also produces materials to support the adoption of the new Eurocode 5 in education and design. At least three open webinars will be held during the project.
