TQMI group focuses on theory of complex quantum systems and quantum information, with an emphasis on the structure and dynamics of quantum many‑body systems and quantum correlations. The group’s research has increasingly focused on nonequilibrium quantum systems, quantum simulation, and the characterization of entanglement and nonclassical correlations. While concepts from quantum condensed matter systems remain part of the broader framework, recent work places stronger weight on quantum information–theoretic ideas. A central theme is connecting abstract theoretical tools with practical quantum simulation and quantum computing, to better understand how complex quantum behavior can be identified, controlled, and verified in practice.
Research focus and goals
We are working at the interface of quantum many-body physics and quantum information
- Complex quantum systems and far-from-equilibrium quantum dynamics
- Quantum information aspects of many-body systems
- Quantum simulation and quantum computing
- Quantum condensed matter systems
Impact
We are part of the Finnish quantum flagship and the Finnish Research Council's center of excellence in quantum materials. Our research results are published in international peer-reviewed journals and can also be found on arXiv open-access database. Besides research, the group is very active in training of undergraduate and graduate students.
