Area of focusHealth

The Paediatric Respiratory Research Group (PedResp) consists of several projects. PedResp continues a longitudinal cohort study initiated in 2003, investigating the long-term outcomes of infant viral bronchiolitis. This unique cohort has been followed from infancy through adolescence to early adulthood, with particular emphasis on asthma development and lung function.

In 2025 FINNCHICO was launched. It is a large research programme examining the prevalence, aetiology, and treatment efficacy of chronic cough in young children. More information can be found on the project’s website: Finnish children´s protracted cough (FINNCHICO)

In addition, an ongoing doctoral project (HETULA) focuses on home-based respiratory support therapies for paediatric sleep-related breathing disorders.
