Military Metaverse for Multi-Domain Operations – MilVerse4MDO

Tampere University
Duration of project1.3.2026–26.2.2029

Military Metaverse for Multi-Domain Operations (MilVerse4MDO) is the flagship Metaverse initiative within the Patria eALLIANCE project family. The project investigates how Metaverse technologies can address key challenges related to Multi-Domain Operations and Live, Virtual, and Constructive training in the military context.

MilVerse4MDO aims to build a solid foundation for training, operational planning simulations, command and control, and post-operation and post-training evaluation in modern, network-centric warfare. This is achieved by systematically exploring the technological and human factors involved, and
by designing and implementing user-centric proof-of-concepts. These prototypes are further developed, integrated, and evaluated through three pilots in collaboration with industrial partners.

The project focuses on both military training and operational scenarios, including tactical situational awareness, vehicle and equipment operations, and field logistics. The lead companies in the consortium are Patria and Nokia Technologies, supported by a range of enablers, process owners, and technology
partners, including ProVerse, Millog, Unikie, Lingsoft, 3D Talo, RumbleTools, Saab, ReOrbit, Vaisala, and Ahola Group.

From academia, Turku University of Applied Sciences coordinates the project with a research focus on MilVerse technology, partnering with Tampere University serving as the academic partner for human-technology interaction research. Together, these institutions ensure the scientific rigor and high quality of the project’s research activities. MilVerse4MDO also lays out the groundwork for a new ecosystem of advanced data visualization, bringing together actors from both the civilian and defense industry.
