Transport emissions contribute to air pollution. Although technological advances and stricter regulations have significantly reduced emissions, particularly from road traffic, challenges remain in several other sectors, including aviation, shipping, and non-road mobile machinery.
The METECH project is developing advanced measurement methods to detect and quantify emissions that are extremely difficult to observe. For example, particulate emissions from aircraft engines can be as small as just a few nanometres or a few tens of nanometres in size.
