GoGos – Good Governance in Sport: Game-Changing Narratives of Value Creation and Destruction

Tampere University
Duration of project1.9.2026–31.8.2029

The GoGoS project explores how good governance in sport can both create and destroy value for athletes, clubs, national sport organizations, and public organizations. Using Finland as an example of the European sport model, the research combines interviews, focus groups, media analysis, and narrative and legal methods. The project reveals tensions between self-regulation and public oversight and develops practical recommendations for more transparent and responsible sport governance. The results will help policymakers, federations, and clubs strengthen integrity and equality in sport, benefiting athletes and society.
