Background
Cense Analytics builds on research conducted at Tampere University in optical measurement methods, photonics and laser technology. The company was founded by Tampere University researchers Juha Toivonen, Jan Viljanen and Tuomas Siltala to commercialise the soil carbon measurement technology developed through their research.
The research was supported by several funding organisations, including the Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation, the Research Council of Finland, the Catch the Carbon programme of the Finnish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
