Askel Healthcare

Founded in 2017, Askel Healthcare is a Finnish health technology company developing new solutions for the surgical treatment of articular cartilage damage in the knee. The company’s COPLA® implant is a biodegradable solution designed to support cartilage regeneration and accelerate patient recovery.

Askel Healthcare’s solutions are designed to improve the treatment of cartilage damage and support patients in regaining mobility and function. The technology offers a new option for treating complex joint injuries and aims to help patients return to an active life.

Impact

Askel Healthcare develops treatments that support cartilage regeneration and may reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis. Its solutions offer new possibilities for the treatment of cartilage damage and subsequent rehabilitation.

The company advances the use of biomaterials and regenerative medicine in orthopaedics and supports the adoption of new patient-centred treatment methods.

Background

Askel Healthcare builds on long-term research in biomaterials, tissue engineering, orthopaedics and regenerative medicine conducted at the University of Helsinki and Tampere University. The commercialisation of the research results was supported by Business Finland’s Research to Business funding, formerly known as Tutkimuksesta liiketoimintaa (TutLi).
