Tampere Welcomes the World's Leading Imaging Researchers and Innovators to IEEE ICIP 2026

Held for the first time in Tampere, ICIP 2026 will showcase the latest advances in technologies that power modern smartphones, medical imaging systems, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, immersive media, and AI-driven visual applications.
What makes ICIP unique is its role as the premier global meeting place for the imaging community, bringing together both scientific excellence and industrial innovation under one roof. At ICIP, image processing is grounded in a deep understanding of domain challenges and processes, and experts are empowered with versatile tools, including AI. The conference combines a highly selective research program with a strong industry presence, creating a platform where new ideas rapidly move from laboratories into real-world products and services.
The conference will feature internationally renowned plenary speakers, including leading experts in computational imaging, machine learning, and inverse problems, alongside an extensive industry program with keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, demonstrations, and exhibitions by major technology companies.
The selection of Tampere as the host city also highlights the strength of the Tampere Imaging Ecosystem, a globally recognized concentration of imaging expertise that brings together Tampere University and more than 25 companies active in mobile imaging, machine vision, computational photography, immersive technologies, and related fields.
"ICIP 2026 offers a unique opportunity to showcase Tampere's position as one of the world's leading centers of imaging education, research and innovation. We are proud to welcome the global imaging community to the Home of Imaging," said Atanas Gotchev, General Chair of IEEE ICIP 2026.
In addition to its scientific and technological significance, the conference is expected to generate international visibility for Tampere and strengthen connections between academia, industry, and public stakeholders, further supporting the region's reputation as a hub for high-technology innovation.
