Tampere University included in international QS Rankings

QS World University Rankings is one of the most well-known university comparisons in the world. It included more than 1,500 universities this year.
The result of 436 is in line with recent years, as Tampere University has previously attained a position between 415 and 462 in this ranking. Tampere University received its highest scores in indicators that measure international research networks and the number of international academic staff (international faculty ratio).
A total of nine Finnish universities were included in the comparison and Tampere University ranked sixth among them. The highest-ranked Finnish university was the University of Helsinki followed by Aalto University, which was ranked 126th. The University of Oulu placed third among Finnish universities.
The top position in the ranking is still held by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
QS World University Rankings assesses universities across nine indicators, each weighted differently. The indicators include academic reputation, citations per faculty, employer reputation, employment outcomes, faculty-student ratio, international faculty ratio, international research networks, international student ratio and sustainability.
QS published subject-specific rankings earlier this year by comparing universities across five broad subject areas and in 55 disciplines. Information and communication studies and educational science did well in their respective rankings. In addition, for example, computer science ranked well in the field-specific ranking. It was placed in the bracket of 351-400 when the list included 849 universities that teach computer science and information systems.
