Ecological and social crises challenge societies worldwide as economic growth continues to dominate decision-making. In her dissertation, MSc Heta Leinonen examines how stakeholder engagement can help shift organizations away from an economic growth-focused paradigm toward a more sustainable, sufficiency-focused paradigm. The dissertation shows that more morally grounded stakeholder engagement helps organizations move beyond a narrow focus on economic performance. The findings offer practical insights for decision‑makers seeking ways to address today’s pressing ecological and social challenges.

The doctoral dissertation of MSc Heta Leinonen in the field of Business Studies titled Stakeholder engagement as an enabler of paradigm shift: From economic growth to sufficiency will be publicly examined at the Faculty of Management and Business at Tampere University on 16 June 2026.

The Opponent will be Professor Tiina Onkila from the University of Jyväskylä. The Custos will be Professor Johanna Kujala from the Faculty of Management and Business.
