How do we design truly smart, inclusive, and sustainable living environments? An Interreg-funded FutureECOS Project is tackling this challenge by developing a future-proof living solution tailored to regions along European growth corridors.

Join the FutureECOS Webinar – Shaping Future Living Solutions on Friday, 5 June at 10:00 (EEST), and explore the project’s core themes – smart, inclusive, and sustainable – through insightful and critical perspectives from experts at Tampere University and Aalto University:

Damiano Cerrone (Tampere University)

The Brain in the Bricks: AI and the Cities We Haven't Built Yet

How can collective intelligence help us reimagine the future spaces we live in? For the first time, communities can actively shape their own built environment, putting people at the centre of the process. This talk follows this new capacity to where it matters most: the places and territories that planning has long overlooked, and the cities we haven't built yet.

İdil Gaziulusoy (Aalto University)

Envisioning Urban Futures with Elephants and Ghosts

Who is invited to design the urban futures? This talk problematizes urban practices that traditionally focus on the needs of existing humans, inviting us to consider the often unheard and marginalized voices of more-than-humans and future generations. It expands our temporal perspective and broadens our understanding of who counts as a stakeholder of urban practice.

Elisa Lähde (Aalto University)

From grey to green - new infrastructure paradigm

What does truly sustainable infrastructure look like in practice? This talk introduces Helsinki’s Tramline 13 as a pioneering example, highlighting green design, biodiversity measures, low-carbon construction, material reuse, and a collaborative alliance model. It shows how a holistic approach to a transport project can strengthen mobility, enhance urban quality, and support ecological resilience.

The three talks will be followed by an open Q&A and discussion.

No prior registration needed.

Be part of an engaging and thought-provoking discussion on how we can shape resilient urban futures together!
