In her doctoral dissertation, Andrea Braun Střelcová investigates how European researchers, universities, and academic organizations navigated changing conditions surrounding research collaboration with China between 2014 and 2024. The findings show that geopolitical tensions and growing scrutiny have not brought collaboration to an end, but have made it more conditional, selective, and strategically managed. Many of the underlying tensions had existed for years, but recent developments made them more visible and consequential. The study helps researchers, universities, and policymakers understand how international scientific partnerships can be responsibly maintained amid competing demands for openness and caution.
