If you follow the Designer study profile, you will develop a thorough understanding of design thinking and problem-solving. This is based on concrete skills in creatively envisioning, sketching, communicating and evaluating alternative solution proposals through collaborative processes and the competence to apply methods of different design philosophies in the creation of gamified and engaging systems for various application areas and technology domains. 

If you follow the Interaction Developer profile, you will develop a thorough understanding of UI engineering and development skills. This covers know-how of rapid prototyping and construction of user interfaces, front-end technologies, data analysis and information visualisation, interaction with modern intelligent systems, and various multi-modal interaction techniques.

If you follow the Researcher profile, you will develop strong scientific and methodological competencies. These cover skills in qualitative and quantitative user research, experimental research, and evaluation of the multi-criteria quality of IT systems from early-stage solution proposals to high-fidelity prototypes, as well as competence to plan, conduct, and report scientifically valid research across a range of topics and contexts in the fields of gamification and engaging technologies specifically. This offers a solid scientific and methodological basis for pursuing a doctoral degree after the MSc studies.

To be eligible for the Gamification and Engaging Technologies specialisation within the Master’s Programme in Computing Sciences and Electrical Engineering, applicants should hold a completed bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a relevant field. We welcome candidates from a wide range of academic backgrounds, including Computer Science, Design, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Media Studies, Game Studies, Information Studies, Education, and Health Sciences.

This multidisciplinary specialisation brings together technology, human behaviour, design, and innovation, making it an excellent choice for applicants interested in creating impactful and engaging digital experiences.

Build your individual path

You may build a personal study plan that creatively combines courses related to three key profiles (Designer, Interaction Developer, Researcher) as well as various thematic courses in gamification and related areas. The curriculum is streamlined with a limited number of compulsory courses for everyone.

In addition to studies in your own specialisation, you may take advantage of the teaching offered by the TUNI community ranging from technical to vocational studies in, for example, entrepreneurship, software development, media studies, information science, business and administration, and social psychology.
