Clean air is vital for our society

Air pollution is one of the most serious environmental threats to human health. According to the World Health Organization, more than 99% of the global population breathes air that exceeds safe air quality limits. This leads to millions of premature deaths each year. Air pollutants affect not only our health but also the climate, the economy and the functioning of society. Donate and be part of advancing solutions that have a direct impact on human health and the environment.

At Tampere University, we develop solutions for cleaner air

At Tampere University, aerosol research combines world-class scientific expertise with practical solutions to improve air quality and the climate.

We integrate measurement technology, combustion and emissions research, atmospheric science, and advanced modelling. Our work supports both industrial renewal and informed societal decision-making.

Noodi’s new research infrastructure enables the next step in aerosol research. State-of-the-art laboratories and measurement environments support research with impact both in Finland and internationally.

Our research focuses on:

  • Reducing emissions and air pollution: We develop solutions to cut emissions from transport, energy production, and industry, and to improve air quality.
  • Understanding aerosol processes: We investigate how fine particles are formed, transformed, and how they affect health, the environment, and the climate.
  • Measurement methods and technologies: We develop precise measurement techniques that support climate action, regulation, and industrial innovation.
