Unlike many existing esports programmes that focus narrowly on preparing students for roles within the industry (e.g., players, coaches, broadcasters), this Master’s uses esports as a context for developing transferable skills applicable across diverse sectors. It draws on the combined academic strengths of three Nordic institutions: University of Agder (Norway) for esports ecosystems and game didactics, Tampere University (Finland) for digital media and human-computer interaction, and Jönköping University (Sweden) for digital business and entrepreneurship.
The first year of the degree is based at University of Agder in Norway and includes the potential for an internship at Glitched LAN and gaming festival in Sweden. For the second year, students will be based at Tampere University in Finland.
