Upon completion of this course, students will be able to describe the basic mechanisms AI uses to translate between human languages, in both NMT and LLMs. They will be able to describe and discuss various aspects of machine translation literacy and will also demonstrate an understanding of the ethical issues associated with the use of AI translation.

There are no spesific compulsory prerequisite courses, but the course level is advanced studies, so students are expected to be familiar with university studies.

Online studies

<h5>Online teaching</h5>We will have regularly scheduled sessions approximately every 2 weeks on
 these Wednesdays: 7.1, 21.1, 4.2, 18.2, 11.3, 25.3, 8.4, and 22.4. The 
time is 14:15-15:45. However, you can complete the course by working 
independently without attending the sessions. Coursework will be 
scheduled around the sessions and deadlines will be the same for all 
students, so everyone will be working in 2-week cycles.
