Sustainable business practices course covers responsibility in various business models, practices and contexts, for example limited companies, cooperatives, social enterprises, public organisations, and hybrid organisations.

There
will be two implementations of this course in the academic year 2025-2026: 1) Participating in teaching, spring 2026.  2) Independent study and exam, autumn 2025.

The student is aware of how social, environmental and economic responsibility are linked to and contextualised in business practices. The student understands the diversity of business operations and key features of different business models. The student is aware of the opportunities and challenges provided by different business models in creating societal welfare and stakeholder value. The student is able search and evaluate research information, and verbalise the acquired knowledge in written text.

We strongly recommend that student complete the recommended prerequisites, especially the Business ethics course. Students can participate this course after taking Business ethics or if they have basic knowledge of business ethics, CSR and stakeholders from other studies.

Participation in teaching and literary work, spring 2026

Participating in teaching and literary work, spring 2026. This
is the lecture option of the course, which comprises of taking part to
lectures and completing individual and group assignments. Lectures are held on Tampere University city campus. This course consists of 8 lectures. The lectures are held on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays at 13-16.The lecture times will be confirmed in the beginning of 2026 as soon as the schedules have been agreed upon with visiting lecturers.The grading of the course consists of a group presentation and a learning diary. Students are encouraged to write the learning diary in pairs but it is possible to write it alone. Lectures include case exercises and visiting lecturers. Due to the interactive nature of the lectures, participation on campus is mandatory. Independent study and exam, autumn 2025

Independent study and exam, autumn 2025. This is an independent online option, which comprise of completing online assignments and an exam according to students&#39; own schedules. The grading is based on exam and other individual tasks completed in Moodle. The exam is done in the electronic exam rooms on campus and can be booked according to your own schedule within the course dates.The course includes an electronic Exam. The student takes the exam at the time of their choice in the EXAM room. The EXAM facilities of the University of Tampere are located on the Tampere campuses, in the University Consortium of Pori and in the University Consortium of Seinäjoki. <a href="https://sites.tuni.fi/exam-en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Read the instructons for the EXAM exam.</a> It is also possible to take exams in the EXAM rooms of other Finnish Unversities in several different locations (co called exam-visit).
