Language requirements for Tampere University bachelor's programmes

This webpage has been updated for the 2027 admission round. When you apply to a bachelor’s programme at Tampere University, you must submit evidence that you have a good command of the English language for academic purposes. Here you will find information on the accepted methods along with detailed instructions and additional information.

Admission group 1: SAT or ACT test

If your admission is based on SAT or ACT scores, further demonstration of language proficiency is not required. However, you must deliver the SAT or ACT test results as stated on the Application documents for Tampere University bachelor's programmes webpage.

Only tests taken after 1 January 2025 will be considered. Applicants must complete the test by the end of the application period (21 January 2027 at 15.00 UTC+2).

For more information on test dates and centres as well as how to register, visit the  SAT or  ACT webpage.

The results must be delivered to Tampere University by the test organiser organisation directly.

  • The SAT test code (College Board) for Tampere University is 0599
  • The ACT test code for Tampere University is 8352.

Test results must be delivered to Tampere University by the attachment deadline of 28 January 2027, so be sure to request the SAT or ACT organisation to share the results. You do not need to upload the results on your application for in Studyinfo.fi, as the results will be shared to Tampere University directly from the test organiser.

Admission group 2: Language tests or previous studies

Language tests

Please note to book a language test well in advance. There might not be many test dates available, or they may get fully booked early.

When applying to a bachelor's programme in the joint application to higher education, the language test must be completed no later than the application deadline 21 January 2027. The results may be delivered to Tampere University afterwards. If you have already taken the test, please note that the test score must be valid at least until 21 January 2027. Upload your language test result to the online application. Tampere University will verify all language test results online.

If you are applying in other application rounds (i.e. open university route applications, transfer applications, MAOL competition in Finland), you will need to follow the deadlines of each application round accordingly.

Exemptions based on previous studies

An exemption from submitting a language test score is possible only based on the studies specified and listed by Tampere University that demonstrate your good command of the English language for academic purposes. If you are applying without a valid language test result, carefully examine the exemption criteria below. Only studies that fulfil the stated criteria will be accepted.
