Eligibility criteria for Tampere University bachelor's programmes

On this webpage we will guide you through the general eligibility to Tampere University bachelor's programmes. Please note that we have two different admissions groups.

General eligibility

You can apply for admission if you have completed or will complete one of the following qualifications in the spring 2027:

  • the Finnish matriculation examination

  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, the European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma, the Reifeprüfung (RP) diploma, the Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) diploma, or the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE)

  • vocational upper secondary qualifications, a vocational degree or a specialised vocational degree as referred to in the Finnish Vocational Education and Training Act (531/2017)

  • foreign qualifications which in the awarding country confer eligibility to pursue an equivalent university degree

Or:

  • you have been granted a study right for a university degree in Finland

  • you hold a degree conferred by a Finnish higher education institution or a degree conferred by a foreign institution that is equivalent at least to a bachelor’s degree

If you are an applicant in the final semester of your upper secondary education, you are also eligible to apply. The previous education must be completed before studies in the programme begin.

There are two different admission groups. Please check below more information whether you can apply in

or both - if you have completed or are completing one of the qualifications eligible in Admission group II, you can apply in both admission groups I and II.

Admission group I: admission is based on the SAT test

If you meet the general eligibility criteria listed above, you can apply based on your SAT or ACT test. You are ranked based on your total test score. The ACT test score is then converted to conform with an SAT test score according to the table below. You cannot combine scores from different test dates. Only the best valid total score from a single test will be considered. Superscores are not accepted.

Admission group II: certificate-based admission

You will be considered for certificate-based admission if you have completed or will complete one of the following qualifications in the spring 2027:

  • the Finnish matriculation examination;

  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma;

  • the European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma;

  • the Reifeprüfung (RP) Diploma or the Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) Diploma completed in Finland.

In certificate-based admissions, the applicants’ matriculation examination certificates are scored, and applicants who have received the highest certificate scores are admitted. Programme-specific requirements apply and these are listed in each programme’s admissions criteria at Studyinfo.fi.

If alternative application procedures to the programme in question are available (i.e. open university route applications, transfer applications, MAOL competition in Finland), more information can be found on the programme's pages at Studyinfo.fi
