TSO-DSO-Consumer INTERFACE aRchitecture to provide innovative grid services for an efficient power system

Tampere University

The disruption of electric power system will require totally new kind of coordination between stakeholders of electricity market and Power system due to distributed energy resources (distributed generation, demand response and storage) and novel market stakeholders (aggregators, prosumers, microgrids and energy communities) which remarkable will change the system functioning and enable novel functionalities. European Project of 42 partners consists of parallel demonstrations where the intrest of Tampere University and other Finnish partners is on local flexibility market for congestion and balance management of transmission and distribution grids.

Background

The demonstration of Finnish and Baltic partners will implement transmission and distribution grid congestion and balance management system based on information exchange platform for flexibility trading of distributed energy resources. The aim is to realize cross-border Trading in transmission level and also between transmission and distribution grids. The benefits of information exchange platform, guidelines and market mechanisms and products for aggregators, prosumers, etc. is to enable multi-market and transparent trading. The role of TUT in the project is related to distribution grid congestion management and validation of trading action while utilizing local flexibility market.

Goal

The coordination of stakeholders of electricity markets and Power system has to be enhanced in order to avoid negative concequences of invidual stakeholder managing distributed energy resources to others and to enable transparent and efficient utilization of flexibility of distributed energy resources where mostly needed. The enhancement of coordination requires development in the guidelines, market mechanisms and products, digital platform and management functionalities in electricity markets and power system.
