Research focus and goals
Our research scrutinizes the multimodal basis of language and the micro-level mechanisms for human sociality, i.e. the grammars of social actions. We use multimodal conversation analysis and interactional linguistics to analyse multilingual interactions in a variety of interactional settings paying special attention to the use of body and material resources in action formation.
Our research has a societal mission: in addition to analyzing the systematics of interaction we examine the conceptions, attitudes and opportunities for participation connected to different situations and ways of using language.
