Drive Forward

Aalto University and Tampere University investigate in Drive Forward project energy-efficient solutions for hydraulic linear actuators in mobile work machines. The goal is a 10-fold energy efficiency improvement of the work hydraulics and the electro-mechanical powertrains of non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), together with radical simultaneous improvement of the machine performance. The results will be verified in electrified mobile work machine. The solutions utilize e.g. hydraulic energy storages, digital hydraulics and overload possibilities of electrical components.

Improving the energy efficiency of machines makes it possible to both reduce emissions and extend the charging interval of battery-powered machines.
