Cultural variations of speech and voice

The research aims to find out the diversity of cultural voice use by analyzing speech and voice features in different professional groups, speech situations and song genres.

Finding out the variation of speech and voice features helps to understand the communicative meanings of voice, intercultural differences in it, and professional and artistic use of voice. It creates the basis for setting the goals of voice training.

The purpose of clarifying communicative meanings is to facilitate interaction between individuals and groups of people and to prevent misinterpretations. Research on, for example, the effects of insufficient language skills on the reception of speech features also helps in the development of teaching methods and aids. Variations in speech and voice characteristics between cultures and eras also provide a unique window for examining societal changes.
