About me

I completed my Master’s degree in Cultural History at the University of Turku in 2012 and defended my doctoral thesis at the Department of Geography, University of Turku, in 2020. My thesis focuses on enclosed spaces and carceral spaces and is based on the research tradition of the carceral geography. During my academic career, I have previously worked at the University of Turku and served as a visiting researcher at universities abroad (the University of Birmingham, UK and University College Groningen, NL).

 

Responsibilities

Currently I teach at the "Theories and Concepts of Social Policy" course and I’m a co-tutor on the Master’s thesis seminar.

I am a member of the steering group of the Carceral Geography Working Group, which operates under the auspices of the Royal Geographical Society (UK).

Fields of expertise

My areas of expertise include institutions, older adults and ageing from the spatial viewpoint and urban studies.
