Johanna Annola

I am a Senior Research Fellow and hold the Title of Docent in Social History. My current research focuses on bodyminds in the carceral timespaces of the past, building directly on my previous project as an Academy Research Fellow (2021–2026). In spring 2027, I will begin a research project on communicating science through literary fiction, funded by the Kone Foundation.

• Institutional cultures, space and time (women's prisons, spinhouses, workhouses/poorhouses, Magdalene asylums).
• Experience and the margins of society (poverty, marginalization, subcultures).
• Biographical approach to social mobility.
