About me

I am a Senior Lecturer in Comparative Literature at Tampere University and hold a title of docent in Contemporary Culture Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. My research has focused particularly on the impact of digital technologies on storytelling and imagination, as well as on speculative fiction and world-building from a multimedial perspective. I currently lead the Kone Foundation-funded project Imagine, Democracy! Narrative Fiction as a Tool for Imagining Democracy in Finland which studies how and with what means narrative fiction written, read, and circulated in Finland imagines democracy.

I have previously served as an Associate Professor of Digital Culture at the University of Bergen, Norway (2024–2026), as a Postdoctoral Researcher funded by the Research Council of Finland (2020–2023), and as a Core Fellow at the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies (2017–2020). In addition to the aforementioned institutions, I have taught courses and lectures on narrative studies and digital media at Aalto University and have held visiting research positions at the universities of Aarhus, York, and Oslo.

Furthermore, I served as the Editor-in-Chief of Kirjallisuudentutkimuksen aikakauslehti Avain from 2023 to 2024.
