Freedom is a key feature of our academic culture

Low hierarchy is something you will notice right away in any Finnish university. The relationships between students and teachers are relatively informal. We are committed to active learning and encourage our students to ask questions, make comments, state their case and argue their point of view. 

Students enjoy significant freedom in planning their studies. This requires good scheduling skills, and support is always available from academic and administrative staff. We offer flexible and individual study paths that enable students to grasp broad multidisciplinary perspectives and develop in-depth expertise as well as mutual understanding.

Cosy campuses and modern facilities

Tampere University has three vivid campuses with top-notch facilities and services. You can find student restaurants and libraries at each of our campus. At Hervanta campus you can find cool places such as the FabLab, a learning environment open to everyone. City centre campus is the home of OASIS, a social space and living lab at Tampere University.
