
Open University: MOOC-studies
What is a MOOC?
MOOCs are open courses that can be completed entirely online offered to you by our Open University. You may apply for these courses through the Open University’s Admissions Service, and upon completion, the credits you have earned will be added to your academic record. The MOOCs are priced in the same way as other Open University studies.
MOOCs may also include sections published for exploration or self-study, which do not require registration or the right to study.
In the implementation details of the course, you will find a link to the learning environment where you can see the course materials.
Applying for the courses
- MOOC courses are registered for through the Sisu system. A direct link to registration can be found on each course’s webpage. The registration link will take you to the Sisu system. Places are filled in the order of registration.
- Detailed instructions on how to complete the course will be sent to you via email after registration.

Tampere University’s MOOC courses
Accessibility in Digital Society
- Accessibility in Digital Society 1 - 35 cr, online implementations.
- Please register separately for each course. Instructions for registration can be found on each course's webpage.
Education
- Key Concepts of Cultural-Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) 1 - 5cr, online implementation. Price: €60.
- Period of study: 15 September 2026 - 20 May 2027.
- Registration period: from 8.00 on Wednesday 5 August 2026 to 23.59 on 7 September 2026.
Journalism
- Social Responsibility in Journalism 5 cr, online implementation. Price: free of charge.
- Period of study: 24 August 2026 – 15 December 2026.
- Registration period: From 8.00 on Wednesday 5 August 2026 to 23.59 on 20 August 2026.
Information technology
- Introduction to Human-Technology Interaction 5 cr, English-language implementation. Price: €100.
- Period of study: 3 March 2027 – 31 July 2027.
- Registration period: From 8.00 on Monday 26 January 2027 to 23.59 on 17 May 2027.
