Thesis Fair is a free networking event for international Master's students and companies looking to hire thesis workers or to network with international students. The event brings together international Master's students as well as companies and organisations that value the research information produced by international students and can offer thesis positions in English, or just wish to connect with international students. Registration for companies is now open!

For many international students, Master's thesis is the gateway to Finnish working life. International students who do their thesis in cooperation with a company or research organisation are more likely to stay working in Finland after graduation. It is in the interest of both universities and companies that our international students utilise the education and research knowledge acquired during their studies for the benefit of Finnish working life.

At the event, companies get to meet Master's students from different fields and hear their ideas for thesis topics, or just discuss Finnish working life and recruitment. For international students, Thesis Fair gives an opportunity to present their potential research topics and to network with representatives of companies in various fields.

The event is organised with the same event concept in autumn 2024 at Tampere University and Aalto University.

For companies

Through university students, companies get access to the latest knowledge and expertise in the field. By conducting a thesis project, companies can also test potential new employees. A Master's thesis project is one of the most effective means of recruiting graduating students. Thesis Fair is an excellent opportunity for companies to create a positive employer image and become profiled among students as an organisation that promotes diversity.

The Thesis Fair is aimed at all companies and organisations that are interested in utilising the skills and research knowledge of an international student. Also companies and organisations who wish to hire international talents or to just meet and get to know international students are welcome to attend.

Tampere University educates international students in international degree programmes in most of its fields in all seven faculties. Most students are interested in doing their thesis in cooperation with a Finnish company. According to student surveys, the majority of international students plan to stay and work in Finland after graduation.

A Master’s thesis is a public piece of research included in the Master’s degree which is conducted on a specific subject. The topic of the thesis may be provided by a company or organisation. Thesis assignments may be for example reporting, design, research or development projects related to the organisation's industry. By providing a thesis topic, you will gain access to the latest knowledge, extra resources for work to be done or possibly a new talent to your organisation.

A company participating in the Thesis Fair may already have a topic or theme in mind for a possible thesis project, but it is also possible to come to the event without a preliminary topic or just to create connections with international students.
