Tampere University’s fields of science featured in QS Ranking

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 compares universities across five broad subject areas and 55 individual disciplines. The results were published in QS’s subject-specific rankings, released in March. These broad subject areas are further divided into more specific disciplines in the QS comparison. Tampere University appears in 16 categories within these rankings.
Information Studies (classified by QS as Library and Information Management) continues to perform strongly, now ranking 27th globally. QS lists 101 institutions worldwide in this field.
Communication and media studies was ranked within the top 250, and psychology is in the same tier in its own ranking.
Among engineering disciplines, electrical and electronic engineering is ranked in the 251–300 range, while computer science and information systems is placed in the category of 301–350 best. In the natural sciences, materials science is also placed in the 301–350 category.
The indicators used in the QS ranking include academic reputation, the employability of graduates, research citations, and the volume and impact of scientific publications. There is also a specific indicator for international research collaboration and partnerships.
This year’s ranking includes 171 new higher education institutions.
