Inaugural lectures are delivered by newly appointed professors at Tampere University to present an overview of their research to the scientific community, external stakeholders, and the public.

In their inaugural lectures, our new professors provide an introduction to their field of research and discuss the latest achievements, key questions and directions for future research. For the University, inaugural lectures are an occasion to welcome new professors to the university community.

In 2026, our new professors delivere their inaugural lectures on Monday, 11 May. As last year, the lectures will be divided among the three campuses (City centre, Hervanta, and Kauppi) in the morning at 10:00-12:00, and we will gather for a joint celebration at the Main Building's Main Auditorium on the City centre campus in the afternoon at 13:30-14:30.

At the beginning of the afternoon event, the procession will enter the auditorium accompanied by music, after which the President will open the event. After speeches by two new professors, all new professors will be presented with flowers on stage, and the event will conclude with a musical performance. Afterwords cake and coffee will be served in the foyer of the Main Auditorium.

Additional information about the order of the lectures and registration for the afternoon event will be added here a little later.

Dress code for the audience: business casual.
