About me

I work as a Research Specialist in the Faculty of Social Sciences (SOC). My task is to support and develop the research activities of SOC by acting as an assistant and working partner of the Vice Dean of Research, currently Prof. Sami Pirkola.

My background is in history, where I have specialized in the urban history of the Baltic Sea region during the Middle Ages and early modern period. I received my PhD at Tampere University in 2014. Since then, I have acted as PI in interdisciplinary research project about migration that was based at Tampere University and funded by the Finnish Cultural Foundation. I have also worked as Senior Scientist at the University of Salzburg. Additionally, I have worked in several interdisciplinary projects that cooperated with partners outside academia. To my current position I moved from the University of Turku where I led an individual Post-Doctoral project funded by the Academy of Finland. I am also the Vice Chair of EU COST Action network Women on the Move. 

Responsibilities

My work tasks include

  • Supporting SOC scholars together with TAU Research Services in national and international Calls, including the Academy of Finland and Horizon Europe programs.
  • Participating in the strategic planning of the Faculty’s research activities as the working partner of the Vice Dean, as well as coordinating and implementing the developing steps.
  • Participating in SOC administrative tasks, such as preparing the meetings of the Scientific Committee (research development group).
  • Informing researchers about research related topics, and collecting information on research,
  • Developing the scientific communication of the Faculty in collaboration with the Faculty’s Communication Team.
  • Supporting Open Science in SOC and collect information about our research infrastructures.
  • Assisting in the Docent procedure.
  • Processing the research permits related to the Faculty.
