Use of the TUNI ID in studies

When participating in teaching, students are required to log in to all services provided by the Universities' Community using their TUNI credentials. This also applies to remote learning (Zoom and Teams), where participants must appear under their own name, including first name and surname.

In remote access environments used for teaching (Zoom and Teams), meetings require authentication using TUNI organizational credentials. These meetings may be further protected by technical safeguards at the teacher’s discretion. The purpose of this is not to restrict the openness of teaching, but to ensure that only individuals entitled to participate in the education are able to do so and that they have completed any prerequisite training required for course completion. This policy also aims to protect the identities of participants and to provide a safe space in remote learning environments.

Another objective is to prevent the unauthorized distribution of restricted materials provided by visiting lecturers and, for data protection reasons, to prevent limited-access information from falling into the wrong hands (for example, lectures in medicine or psychology that involve confidential health data or health related materials).

Courses that are open to all must be explicitly designated as such. This must also be clearly indicated in the course description.

Official communication between the Universities' Community and students is conducted via the official TUNI email service or other tools provided by the Universities' Community. Teaching materials are distributed through TUNI mailboxes or systems.

Students retain the right to send messages via external services; however, they must understand that they are then responsible for the protection and processing of the information. Forwarding to non‑personal email addresses is prohibited (e.g. shared mailboxes and mailing lists).
