This was taken in Koskipuisto, a park right to the city square, which is my favourite place to go for a walk.

Tell us about yourself and your studies

I am Syed Ajim from Bangladesh. I studied my BA in International Studies from South Korea. I am an extrovert and multilingual person. Now I am doing my MA in Public Policy Analysis at Tampere University. I am also learning Finnish language and I hope someday I will speak fluently in Finnish.

Why did you choose your current programme?

I have a keen interest in the public policy field, and that made me go for a master's in this programme.

Can you share with us your experiences in Finland and Tampere?

So far, I have loved almost everything in Finland and Tampere. From the first day here in Tampere, I felt like I belonged. Everyone is so kind and helpful. Tampere is a great city for a student where you will enjoy diversity, equality and respect. Therefore, I think I will live here for a long time.

What kind of student activities have you participated in?

Well, there were many activities happening at the university. I took part in the welcome week events from our department student associations 'tipsy' which was a really great experience to meet all the seniors and newcomers. I think that was a really great initiative to get familiarized with a new culture.

What would you say to someone planning to study and live in Tampere?

I think this will be a great decision to study and live in Tampere. If someone likes to live peacefully and have their own space, I recommend coming to study and live here in Tampere. It has so many beautiful places and nature.

What is your favourite place in the city to go for fun with friends?

My favorite place is Keskustori, which is the city center. I often go there with my friends to drink, hangout and shop. Keskustori has lots of things and I enjoy the view over there.
