Advanced Studies in Peace and Conflict Research, 90 cr

Description

Advanced studies in Peace and Conflict Research include three parts:

- Studies in Peace and Conflict, 30 credits

- Professional and Transferable Skills, 10 credits

- Thesis studies, 50 credits

Objectives

Upon completion of the Advanced Studies of the MDP in Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research, the student:
- gains an understanding of the linkages and interrelationships between the causes of violent conflicts, the ways of preventing and resolving them and the varieties of peace.
- is familiarized with the idea and meaning of "peace" and its historical development
- is cognizant of the key concepts and terms related to international and global conflict transformation and resolution, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, mediation, human rights, and responsibility to protect.
- is able to reflect and take responsibility of her/his own learning and seeks to make use of the constructive feedback from the peers and staff to enhance her/his performance and personal skills.
- is able to communicate effectively and fluently both verbally and in writing about the phenomena relevant to peace and conflict research.
- is able to organize data, varieties of information and research materials.
- is able to work co-operatively in groups and collaborate with other students as well as contribute effectively to the achievement of the common goals.
- is able to identify, and analyze global problems and to explore alternative solutions to them.
