Sosiaalipolitiikan syventävät opinnot (90 op) koostuvat sosiaalipolitiikan teorioiden ja tutkimuksen syventävistä opintojaksoista (25 op), tutkimusmetodologia-opinnoista (10 op), työelämään suuntaavista opinnoista (15 op) sekä pro gradu -tutkielmasta ja -seminaarista (40 op).

Objectives

Students who have completed a master’s degree in social sciences with a specalisation in social policy have a broad, in-depth understanding of social policy both as a science and as a practice. They are able to interpret and to employ international resources on socio-political phenomena. They have the competence to study, to evaluate and to develop social policy and to present alternative solutions to current practices and ways of thinking. They have excellent skills in the acquisition and the application of research data to professional and other social practices. They are able to conduct research and to report results in a scientific and ethically acceptable way. Students graduating with a master’s degree in social policy are experts with a comprehensive social science education and are capable of identifying, analysing and solving problems related to well-being, socio-political systems and the activity of civil society. They possess the comprehensive skills and knowledge required to work as experts in public administration, in the private sector and in the third sector in local, national and international contexts.
