Advanced Studies in Architectural Design, At least 75 cr

Objectives
After completing the Advanced Studies in Architectural Design, student is able to:


  • create and develop architectural designs that satisfy both aesthetic and technical requirements
  • describe, critically experiment and apply the principles and theories of architecture and the related fields such as history, art and design
  • interpret and develop the central architectonic, spatial, structural, functional and form-generating premises and thinking of the design of buildings and their impact on human needs
  • evaluate and design the immediate environment of buildings, context and their relation to the cityscape
  • analyze and implement the principles of sustainable development and to distinguish and to integrate the structural and technical building systems
  • evaluate and develop the functional, technical and artistic entities and to critically identify and respond to the social, cultural, environmental and economic implications of architectural design
  • develop and implement critical, abstract and conceptual thinking, taking responsibility for own learning and time management
  • develop independent and collaborative process thinking
  • manage a demanding project and to develop presentation techniques and communication skills
