Prerequisites and the structure of studies

Prerequisites

Bachelor's degree in a suitable field or equivalent studies, and a good knowledge of English.

The student’s BSc studies need to include the following or equivalent studies, and if not, they need to be studied and can be included in the Free Choice Studies category, under Complementary Studies.

• Mathematics, 10 ETCS or equivalent

• Data Structures and Algorithms 1

• Software Design

• Programming 3: Techniques

• Introduction to Software Engineering

• Database Basics. 

TIEA4 Project Work course is a compulsory prerequisite study for students taking the course unit TIETS19 Software Project Management, Theory and Practice.

Structure of studies

Master of Science degree (120 ECTS) consists of the following studies
- 50 ECTS advanced studies of the student’s specialisation

- 30 ECTS master's thesis on a topic inside the specialisation

- 40 ECTS other studies including free choice studies, general studies like orientation, guided planning of studies and language studies for international/TAU/Finnish students, and possible complementary studies.
