Students who have completed the basic studies in social sciences possess the basic knowledge and skills for the study of society. They are able to identify social structures, mechanisms, interrelationships and processes and have an understanding of research and commentary in the field of social sciences. They are able to describe research approaches based on different types of data and methods and the ethical choices related to them. The students are able to define key concepts, theories and approaches in social sciences. They master the basic skills required for university studies in social sciences, especially for active seminar work, and are able to express themselves verbally and in writing. The students are able to cite and evaluate research literature. They are able to gather research and write a short scientific text. They possess the necessary skills to proceed to intermediate studies.
