Sound Studies, At least 15 cr

The study module of Sound studies introduces a multidisciplinary field, which focuses on the study of sound and its uses in different contexts. It aims to broaden the understanding about the sound-related phenomena and provides unique approaches to understand the possibilities of sound studies. The module focuses on how sound, voice, music, speech are part of human interaction, material world, and technological innovations. It also explores how sound can be used to get information about the society and the environment. The study module includes five different thematic areas.

After completing the module, the student is familiar with the terminology, theories and methods of analysis of different approaches in and can apply them in various occupational fields, such as media, pedagogy, cultural production, and software industry.
