Theory and Practice of European Integration, Lectures

Lectures (English)
9.1.2024 – 25.2.2024
Active in period 3 (1.1.2024–3.3.2024)

In the last 30 years the EU has emerged as a security actor with the ambition to contribute to the safety of the continent and the wider world.
However, regularly the EU fails to meet expectations and is either split or powerless in times of crises. At the same time, today’s security landscape is changing rapidly.

In this course we analyse and evaluate the developments and challenges of the EU as an international security actor. The course combines theoretical approaches with an empirical and policy focus. In four sessions, we will cover the historical background, institutional features, key challenges as well as current debates of the EU’s security and defence policy.
