  • Human factors of different interaction modalities and multimodal interaction;
  • Devices and interaction technologies for multimodal interaction;
  • Tools and methods for design and implementation of multimodal applications;
  • Fusion and fission of different modalities needed to create multimodal interfaces;
  • Evaluation and user experience of multimodal interaction.

In the course, four modalities are covered in more detail: speech, gestures, gaze tracking and haptics. Multimodal fusion and fission are discussed as well. In addition, evaluation of multimodal interfaces is covered.

Completion option 1
To pass the course, students must do design exercises and peer reviews, give a presentation and do one larger design exercise. Remote participation is possible. Grading is based on design exercises and the documentation of the larger, final exercise.
