Court Interpreting I English-Finnish-English, 5 cr

The student will learn about court interpreter's professional and ethical practices, as well as about working with authorities as an interpreter. They will become familiar with the different stakeholders, legal processes, and common interpreting situations in court interpreting. They will learn to use the most common background materials for court interpreting. The student will learn about prima vista interpreting and whispered interpreting with the help of interpreting assignments. The course unit will also include evaluation of the student's own preparation and interpreting processes, and peer evaluation.
